Escape To The Lake is a multi-day Christian festival held
in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. In its second season, ETTL has had a 300% increase
in attendance. Offering outdoor activities, a wide selection of amenities, and
mellow CCM under the stars, this festival has something few others offer –
sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of summer.
Artists performing in 2014 and found on the sampler
listing below provide a wide variety of soft, mellow and relaxing sounds. From
Sara Groves to Water Deep, from Burlap To Cashmere to Sara Mason, these performers
offer some of the best of current song writing.
- “Childhood Summer” (Sara Groves) – roaming with
child-like wonder, which is Groves’s musical mantra.
- “Orchestrated Love Song” (Burlap To Cashmere) – like
a summer storm with moments of tempest and calm.
- “Happy” (Water Deep) – has the soft energy for true
happiness.
- “Till & Mule” (Julie Lee) – softly wandering.
- “Fighting For Life” (Eric Peters) – catches the
energy of personal conflict.
- “Remember Me Jesus” (Justin McRoberts) – solemn
praise and worship capturing deep need.
- “Rally Those Hopes” (Giants & Pilgrims) – terrific
duet similar to Of Monsters And Men with spark.
- “When Things Fall Apart” (Sarah Masen) – Sarah’s
back! With dream-like vocals and melody as if the listener is floating
freely through the universe.
- “Closer” (Mercy Child) – slight return to Irish acoustics
with violin and mandolin showcasing Ericka Chambers’ vocals and great harmonies.
Hot song, hot lyrics.
- “Rescue Me” (Andres Greer) – piano prances through
the soft praise and worship.
- “Find Me” (Matthew Clark) – piano lead with
percussion build-up much like the nearly forgotten music of Gray Holiday.
- “The Fiddler” (Son Of Laughter) – a very fun romp.
- “Wake Up” (Caroline Cobb) – solemn and strong of
melody and message.
- “Bad Blood” (Micah Dalton) – like a hot southern wind
the song sweeps over the listener.
- “Nobody Gets Out Clean” (Nick Flora) – strong, anthemic
story of chasm between being human and Christian growth. Terrific song.
- “White Page” (Tanya Godsey) – wandering piano and
vocals match strong melody. Godsey’s vocal range is wonderful to absorb.
- “Apple From This Tree” (Adam Whipple) – well
performed, well written lyrics worthy of many a listen!
- “Hallelujah, I Love You” (Rebekah Maddux El-Hakam) – solid,
soft praise and worship.
- “Silver” (The Gray Havens) – piano lead story like an
18th century frigate sailing a terrible sea. Awesome and
memorable.
Through the brief sampling offered on this download, it is
easy to imagine yourself floating effortlessly in a sailboat on Lake Geneva
waiting for the concerts at dusk. See you there in 2015!
