Razia Said’s third and latest release, Akory, highlights her interest in environmental activism and focus on her homeland of Madagascar as noted in her use of the Malagasy language in her vocals. African influences abound in her music both in lyrics, melody and instrumentation. Akory abounds with both joyful, exuberant moments and quiet, personal experiences.

The following track list provides title translation and review highlights to help better understand Razia’s powerful ability to translate her interests and emotions to music.

·      Taranaka Afara (Our Future) – an environmental story, light and airy with intricate vocals
·      Zanako (My Child) – calling to care for Madagascar’s children, delicate guitar and warm vocals
·      Akory Tsikaby (How Will We Survive) – a personal story of survival
·      Baraingo (Chasing Our Tails) – story of lost and out of touch leadership in her homeland and our world
·      Ela Izay (Time And Space) – duality of beauty and sadness in our world, passionate vocals backed by accordion and acoustic guitar
·      Kajio (Our Forests) – “we all share in nature’s gifts, we must take care of what is given”
·      Amaray (Tomorrow) – broken promises that our future will improve, strong vocal performance mixes well with Spanish guitar rhythm
·      Papillon (Butterfly) – a celebration of  Razia’s late stepfather’s life
·      Gny Lalagna (The Way) – finding our path in life, fast paced mixing Malagasy with some English in refrain
·      Nifankahita (It Was Meant To Be) – the destiny of love, a powerful song of celebration highlighted by horns interplay.

Emotional truth spills over in Razia’s lyrics while world music mixes a sometimes joyful sometimes thought provoking sound in Akory.
