Childhood Home
Artist: The Healing
Label: The Healing
Release Date: August 22, 2014
Duration: 5 tracks, 27:38
Straight ahead blues-rock
with simple chording underlying vocals make much of Childhood Home similar to Ryan
Adam’s self-titled release of 2014, but the similarity ends there.
Both ‘No Virtue’ and ‘Losing
My Way’ have a sound very similar to early Savoy Brown blues with Kim Simmons
lead guitar of the early ‘70s. ‘Tonopah’ hits home with simple lyrics and rhythm
coupled with great play between guitars making this tune work hot.
Continuing the theme of the
previous self-titled song’s softer message, ‘Shed One Tear’ incorporates fuzzy
guitar and upbeat tempo producing a new and different sound and feel from the
remainder of the collection.
Childhood Home has raw
emotion and interesting sound. Missing is an improved mix, deeper / richer
sound and smoother flow. For an inaugural release, The Healing has laid a
strong foundation for a bright future.
