Lifest 2014
Christian Music Festival
Oshkosh, Wisconsin
July 10 – 13, 2014
In the 16th consecutive season of its run, Lifest
has remained strong in its field exceeding or matching past performances. In
2014 with over 18,000 in attendance, the 4-day Christian festival boasted 2,800
occupied campsites, 2,700 ‘Bring a Friend’ coupons used, the largest opening
night attendance in its history and the largest Sunday morning worship service
attendance in years. For the uninitiated, Lifest is a family oriented,
Christian-based, music/arts/faith offering. Whether deemed a music or faith
based festival, Lifest continues to be successful in every way.
Of those acts I attended the following stood out as
exceptional:
·
Scott Stapp – powerful, energizing, soulful and
more – outstanding and surprising in every way. Those I talked to after the
concert, which were many, could not stop talking about Stapp’s performance.
Indeed, both Skillet and Toby Mac who followed Stapp stated during their sets
how great it was to have Stapp back on stage again.
·
Skillet – always hot and powerful, the audience
continues to erupt with each performance.
·
Burlap To Cashmere – with two sets, B2C rocked
the Café stage crowd. The afternoon set being mellower while the evening set
rocked steady. As always, B2C’s poetic lyrics, Mediterranean rhythms, and
awesome musicianship along with the band’s chemistry brought the crowd in both
sets to another place of peace and wonder.
Amid the rides, sports, food court, and merchandise there
was a wide variety of entertainment available. Following are a sampling of the
over 100 entertainers, musicians, presenters, comedians and the occasional
artist:
