With heart bare, music straight and true, Jordan-Morgan Lansdowne finds a foot hold with this hard hitting offering. Both persuasive and percussive, these ‘pre-production’ demos speak true to the soul.

Understand Your Ways” has it all with percussive guitar play, resonating voice, and deep, smoky lyrics like a voice crying for answers. With a quick break and good mixing to “Struggles & Other Synonyms”, Lansdowne provides hot rhythm and strong message. “Drive” is soft with poetic meanderings shouldered by simplistic, soft acoustic guitar. “I Digress”, while short and to the point, shows an upbeat tone leaning towards a Mat Kearny-like sound.

What stands apart from his previous offering is a simple message, clear mixing and fine engineering. Most importantly, the message stands up. With only his acoustic guitar, strong voice, and guttural message Lansdowne finds his stride.

Leave Your Light On (EP)

Artist: Jordan-Morgan Lansdowne
Label:  7 Spin Music
Release Date: April 21, 2013
Duration:  4 tracks, 12:40

Having followed the last three offerings by Jordan-Morgan Lansdowne, I can attest to his growth in writing and performing. As refined by the fire of his life experience, I hear his soul change from the joy of finding Christ to the realities of this life as a Christian. In these tracks are found the loneliness of the soul, the physical yearning for love and acceptance, the grit and bone of life.

“Leave Your Lights On” has Springsteen-like phrasing but opens up with a dark, smoldering refrain leaving a powerful mark on the listener. “Corn Stacks And Coal Mines” is a slow moving, heart-felt acoustic message of loss and yearning. Like an early Johnny Cash single, “Railroad Bend” has a tinge of country with a hard-edged reality. A sometime musical rarity in today’s plethora of music, “Spring Bell” (unreleased home demo) is an artist’s gift to the listener.

Leave Your Lights On has deep, earthy sounds of heart and soul, hard-edged grace with an offering from his soul to yours.
